Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Program: Cybersecurity Law Meets AI
Artificial intelligence is transforming cybersecurity at an unprecedented pace, creating new threats while exposing the limits of legal doctrines built for an earlier era. This program examines how AI is reshaping cyberattacks, defensive security, and liability, and explores whether existing laws—from the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act to negligence and privacy doctrines—are equipped for a world of autonomous, AI-driven systems.
About the Speaker:
Professor Nick Nugent joined the Winston College of Law in 2023 after serving on the faculty at the University of Virginia School of Law. A nationally recognized scholar in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, internet law, and intellectual property, his work draws on experience in both academia and industry, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. His research focuses on the intersection of emerging technologies and the law, making him a leading voice on the legal challenges posed by AI.

The evening brings all of our milestone reunion classes together for one unforgettable celebration. Reconnect with classmates over cocktails, share stories from your time on Rocky Top, and celebrate the friendships and experiences that began at the Winston College of Law. During dinner, you’ll be seated with members of your graduating class, making it easy to catch up with old friends while enjoying the energy of the broader alumni community.
Rump Court (Unofficial After-Hours Gathering)
After dinner, keep the celebration going! Continue the conversations by gathering with classmates at a favorite Knoxville spot for an informal evening of laughs, stories, and reminiscing. While these gatherings are self-organized by each class, they’re often where some of the weekend’s best memories are made.

Winston College of Law Alumni Tailgate
Close out Reunion Weekend by cheering on the Volunteers with alumni from across the decades at our Winston College of Law Tailgate before the Kentucky game.
Enjoy a classic BBQ buffet, live music, family-friendly games, and plenty of Big Orange spirit as you reconnect with fellow alumni, faculty, students, and friends of the College.
The tailgate begins three hours prior to kickoff.
Your tailgate registration includes:
- BBQ buffet
- Non-alcoholic beverages
- Two alcoholic beverage tickets
- Live entertainment and family-friendly activities
- Parking and football game tickets are not included.
Please note: Tailgate registration is completed separately through the Reunion website.

Visitors will find a variety of hotels in Downtown Knoxville and the campus area, both of which offer convenient access to Winston Law and the University of Tennessee.
For more budget-friendly options, consider hotels in West Knoxville, particularly in the Cedar Bluff and Lovell Road areas. These locations typically provide a wider range of moderately priced accommodations while remaining an easy drive to campus. In addition, a group rate for the Hilton Garden Inn Pigeon Forge is available here. (The group code is “LAW”.)
Other hotel accommodations may be available in North Knoxville, including hotels located near Merchant Drive.

As part of Reunion Weekend, we’re excited to offer a special block of tickets for alumni attending the UT Vols vs. Kentucky football game at Neyland Stadium. Sit alongside fellow Winston College of Law graduates and cheer on the Vols in one of the most iconic college football venues in the country.

Volunteer Hall Garage
If you’re visiting the Winston College of Law, visitor parking is located at Volunteer Hall Garage, directly behind us on White Avenue between 16th Street and James Agee Street, and is available for campus guests and the general public.

Please visit UT’s Gameday Parking for more information on parking availability on camps during home athletic events.
Additional public parking options are available in non-University lots. For more information, see this list compiled by the University’s Parking and Transit Services office.
