Law Library exhibit to highlight history of 19th Amendment

The Joel A. Katz Law Library in the College of Law will host “100 Years After the 19th Amendment: Their Legacy, and Our Future,” a traveling exhibit that honors the women’s suffrage movement. The exhibit is a project of the American Bar Association in conjunction with the Library of Congress.

College hosts Blackshear Scholarship Gala 2021 virtually

The University of Tennessee College of Law will host the annual Julian Blackshear, Jr. Scholarship Gala early next month. The featured guest is Shelby County Tennessee Commissioner Van Turner (’02) who was instrumental in the efforts to remove Confederate statues from public parks in Memphis, Tennessee. The event will be held virtually.

College of Law students offer tax prep assistance

Clinic event reaches more than 150 East Tennessee residents

In the span of just eight hours, faculty, students and volunteers with the College of Law Legal Clinic helped more than 70 people change their lives. Some of those people faced suspended driver’s licenses. Some couldn’t secure employment. Some faced legal fees they had no ability to pay.

College to host annual Advocate’s Prize competition

The University of Tennessee College of Law will host virtually the annual Advocate’s Prize competition during the week of Oct. 19. The event offers second- and third-year law students the opportunity to present oral arguments in front of lawyers from across the state of Tennessee and beyond.

College of Law hosts Business Transactions conference

The fourth annual “Business Transactions: Connecting the Threads” event will take place at the College of Law on Oct. 16. This one-day program will be offered virtually via Zoom, and lawyers will hear from business law professors from the Business Law Prof Blog who are currently teaching at various schools across the United States.

Students to host 11th annual environmental law conference

The Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference will take place at the University of Tennessee College of Law on Sept. 26. The 11th annual event, hosted by the College of Law’s Environmental Law student organization, will be offered virtually via Zoom.

Law Women organization honored for fundraising efforts

During a virtual ceremony this week, the Law Women student organization was honored from among 56 nominees as an outstanding graduate student organization.
