College of Law names two students Hardwick Fellows for 2022-2023

Third-year law students Sarah Beth Cain and Alexander Wright have been named 2022-23 Hardwick Fellows for the University of Tennessee College of Law’s Institute for Professional Leadership. The students will play an important role supporting the institute’s curricular offerings and aiding in educational, research and outreach efforts.

College of Law Professor Glenn Reynolds has been selected to serve on the Institute of American Civics Board of Fellows. Earlier this week, University of Tennessee System President Randy Boyd announced the members of the recently established nonpartisan institute, centered in the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

UT Law Class of 2025 has highest academic credentials on record

The University of Tennessee College of Law welcomed this month one of the most highly credentialed groups of first-year J.D. students in the law school’s history.  This talented and diverse cohort consists of 136 students—the largest entering class since 2013—with a median LSAT score of 160 and a median GPA of 3.

College of Law alumna Tasha Blakney has been elected president of the Tennessee Bar Association.  Blakney, who currently serves as the chair of the College of Law alumni council, was sworn in last week as the organization’s 142nd president.

Four women have been named the 2022 Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC Loan Repayment Assistance Program award recipients by the University of Tennessee College of Law. Monique Brown-Dixon, Kameron Dawson, Cashauna Lattimore and Sarah Nwankwo will each receive $2,500.

Student leaves law enforcement to become lawyer

In the fall of 2017, Darrius Dixon sat among a class of recruits at the police academy in Greeneville, Tennessee. Dixon, who studied political science as an undergraduate, believed then that the natural progression of his studies should lead him to a career in law enforcement.
