College of Law meets fundraising goal, continues efforts

Just 22 months after launching the most ambitious fundraising campaign in its history, the University of Tennessee College of Law has reached its $45 million goal. Dean Melanie D. Wilson credited the college’s dedicated alumni and friends who have responded thus far with unprecedented generosity.

Rothey and Kumi prevail in Advocates’ Prize

Two second-year law students dominated their peers to win top honors in the Advocates’ Prize Moot Court Competition at the College of Law this week. Evan Rothey won for best brief and best team, while Sharon Kumi won as best oralist. United States Court of Appeals judges Joseph A. Greenway, Jr., Carlos F. Lucero and Stephanie D.

Environmental law conference set for Oct. 20-22

The University of Tennessee College of Law will host the eighth annual Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference later this month. Lawyers, activists, students, scientists, faculty, and members of the community are invited to the international, three-day conference that centers upon achieving environmental and social justice throughout the Appalachian bioregion and surrounding areas.

College awards first Hardwick-Woods fellowship

Third-year law student Sloane Lynch has been named the University of Tennessee College of Law’s first Hardwick-Woods Fellowship recipient. As the fellowship recipient, Lynch will work closely with the Institute for Professional Leadership as a teaching assistant for the Institute’s curricular offerings.
