U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals holds oral arguments at UT College of Law

The United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals (ACCA) recently held oral arguments for U.S. v. Mayo at the College of Law. Students had the unique opportunity to observe the JAG Corps in action, as well as meet with and ask questions of the Army officers involved.

Heminway speaks with New York Times about crowdfunded start-ups and fraud

Joan Heminway was recently interviewed by The New York Times about securities crowdfunding and related regulatory compliance issues. She has been working on a survey of compliance in the industry with CrowdCheck, a due diligence provider that helps firms generate accurate disclosures and helps investors evaluate funding opportunities to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

UT Law alumna Danielle Whitworth Barnes named commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services

UT College of Law alumna Danielle Whitworth Barnes has been named commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services by Gov. Bill Haslam. Barnes is currently the deputy commissioner and general counsel for the Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR). She will now lead the agency with which she began her state government career.
