Alumnus provides gift to support faculty, promote scholarship

The University of Tennessee College of Law has received a gift from alumnus Reggie Hill (’80) that will be used to fund a promising junior faculty member.  Beginning in January, the College of Law will offer the award annually and will designate the recipient as the John Reginald Hill Faculty Scholar.

College celebrates diversity at annual scholarship gala

The College of Law honored several students and two alumni Thursday while virtually hosting the annual Julian Blackshear, Jr. Scholarship Gala. The event, coordinated by the Marilyn Yarbrough Chapter of the Black Law Student Association, is designed to celebrate diversity and honor Blackshear as one of the College of Law’s first African-American graduates.

The University of Tennessee College of Law will host the annual Julian Blackshear, Jr. Scholarship Gala early next month. The featured guest is Shelby County Tennessee Commissioner Van Turner (’02) who was instrumental in the efforts to remove Confederate statues from public parks in Memphis, Tennessee. The event will be held virtually.

A $1 million gift has been made to the University of Tennessee in the name of the Chattanooga-based law firm of Summers, Rufolo and Rodgers, P.C.

Distinguished Alumna Judge Pamela Reeves Dies

The College of Law mourns the loss of Federal District Court Judge Pamela L. Reeves, a recent recipient of the University of Tennessee’s Distinguished Alumna Award. Reeves was given the award, the university’s most prestigious recognition of alumni, earlier this month.

Shafer joins College of Law to lead fundraising efforts

University of Tennessee graduate Andrew Shafer has joined the College of Law as the senior director of advancement.  Shafer holds two degrees from the University of Tennessee, having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication and master’s degree in public administration. He has more than 10 years of experience as an advancement and leadership professional.
